How to Get to the MASH Site
History of the MASH Site

The film M*A*S*H (Robert Altman, 1970) and the television show M*A*S*H (1972-1983) was filmed in Malibu Creek State Park at where we now call the "MASH Site".

The docents are currently in the process of restoring the site.

I am ready for my close-up Mr. Demille
as it was then...

Thousands visit the site every year. The original tents and buildings were removed when filming ended in 1983, but decades of overgrowth have been cleared away, markers now show where the major tents stood, and soon educational panels will display the layout of the camp. The helipad roadway has already been cleared and a replica of the iconic signpost that pointed the way home for the characters has been rebuilt and will stand again at the site during scheduled intrepretive outings.

Mr. Demille, I am still waiting... um, Mr. Demille?
as it is now...

Malibu Creek State Park is physically located at 1925 Las Virgenes Road, Calabasas, CA 91302.

How to get there:

From the beach: Take Pacific Coast Highway north / west to Malibu Cyn Road and turn right past Pepperdine University. In the canyon, you'll pass through a tunnel and go through one light (Piuma Road). Just before Mulholland Hwy, turn left into Malibu Creek State Park.

From the Valley: 101 north / west past Calabasas to Las Virgenes Road. Exit there and head south for several miles. The park entrance is the first right turn after Mulholland Hwy.

Parking is $10 per vehicle inside the state park, so carpool with friends.

It's a 35 minute hike to the M*A*S*H set from the parking lot (maps are available for sale at the entry kiosk and free maps available at the visitor center, a little under a mile from the loer parking lot - the location whe Pleasant Valley was iflmed!) over mostly level terrain with some rocky creek bed walking, so bring comfortable shoes, sun protection and water and enjoy. Baby strollers are not recommended.
