2002 News!
07/20/02. Now...the news...
Well, the MASH kiosk. I have actually gotten feedback about this idea from people not in this area (meaning e-mail from other states!). I am being "coronated" as President of the Malibu Creek Docent Association this very afternoon, so after the safety wheels are off, the net is removed, and I am the wielder of the Power of Office, I have to start "doing things", or the electorate will grumble and foment change. For us neophyte minor junior politicians, this is not good. Do not fear, the MASH kiosk is still near and dear to my heart, but now that I am the "Fearless Leader" I have discovered there are lots of other stuff on my paper plate. I am collecting a big list of stuff to take to the "Ranger Man" (aka the District Superintendent) and be assured that the MASH kiosk will be on it. ALSO, this is just a wispy thought, but the Malibu Creek State Park Acorn Festivel (this year Sept. 28th, be there or be square!) might have a MASH theme next year! It would be super-cool to coordinate as much MASH stuff as possible for that event.
And the Texas crossing repair? Well, there's still some big fat holes in that crossing. Don't hold your breathe.
I have been functioning as the President for the Malibu Creek State Park Docents now for 20 days, but today I get the official push into public life. The pomp and the circumstance is one thing, but the other things are kind of scary. I do not want to screw up, but then I am also excited about what contributions I can make. I have to speak today and I am going to have to play bad cop. I have to remind people that members have to pay their dues. Heh heh. The seamy side of being the chief executive officer is that you are supposed make sure people follow the rules.
Ah the website -- I have great plans...great plans for this little island of state parkdom worship. However, time is at a premium so everything will go at glacial pace. Blink a few thousand times and everything will look THE SAME! I want to do a redesign and basically cut it off from Whoosh.org proper. It will have its own unique and colorful link control buttons and be a happy place where everyone kinda sorta knows your name. I might even put up a bulletin board for it. Oh, the things we can do!
