2003 News!
06/07/03 (Kym)
I have been a very bad docent. I have not updated this site in a looooong time. But guilt has overcome me and now I am repenting. It will take a while to whip the site into its potential glory, but i am up to it.
I worked in the park today. I will be docenting at the visitor center on Father's Day (July 15th) with my husband and son. Drop by and say hi!
Since becoming president of the docent association, I have not had much time to work the visitor center. I have missed it. It's a very fun and rewarding experience. My husband and I trained a new docent while another docent was able to work the Children's Room. Before the park duties, the docents had a field trip to the LA County Fire Department's Forrestry Unit near Malibu Creek State Park. We toured the facility, hiked the grounds, and we even found a wounded raptor and one of the docents took the bird to a local wildlife recovery station to see if the bird could be healed and re-released into the wild.
On May 31st, we had the Dedication for the Sepulveda Adobe, an example of a mid-19th century adobe in the Santa Monica Mountains area.
I am going to try to add some graphics to the front page in the near future. I finally got some photos of the park scanned. Not too good ones, but i have to start somewhere.
If you need to reach me for anything, just write to me, Kym, at ktaborn@lightspeed.net. I live to serve.
Become a docent! Volunteer! Run amuck in the park (but in a safe and educated way)!
